PERFECT FIT FOR MY 2010 TOYOTA TACOMA. HOOK IT UP MYSELF WITH THE BACK UP CAMERA WORKING PERFECT. BACK UP CAMERA NEEDS TO GO TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE POP & LOCK TAILGATE LOCK IN COMPARISON WITH THE ORIGINAL TAILGATE OPENER. ANYBODY WHO IS MECHANICALLY INCLINED & ABLE TO FOLLOW WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS & ESPECIALLY PICTURE DIAGRAM SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. WITH THE POP & LOCK TAILGATE LOCK IT WOULD DISCOURAGE THIEVES FROM EASILY TAKING YOUR TAILGATE OR OPENING YOU TRUCK CAP.

Simple to install. Installation takes about 20 minutes.
The tailgate lock works fine. However, I found that after a couple of months you need to apply some white lithium grease to the mechanism. It gets difficult to open the tailgate. I applied grease last week and so far it seems to be ok.

This tailgate lock is for my S10 pickup. I read over the instructions several times before I understood just what needed to be done to install the lock. Once I got started it wasn't hard at all; I just had to keep making minor adjustments to get everything to line up properly. The lock seems strong enough and will deter the casual thief looking for a "grab and run"; I'm sure if someone wants to badly enough they would still be able to get the tailgate open. All in all I consider it a good purchase.

My husband followed the instructions and all went well. Releasing the rod at 2 places was tricky as you have to be careful not to break the plastic anchors, they can break. Probably they should include 2 new ones just in case because if even 1 broke you won't be able to operate the tailgate lever then the catches won't release. The camera has to be carefully disassembled. Everything else is easier, just simple removal of screws etc. Nice to be able to lock the tailgate since I installed the tonneau cover.

The Pop & Lock arrived promptly from RealTruck. I purchased the chrome version of the lock with the idea it may be more durable. Not seeing the less expensive model, that remains to be seen. The lock is not difficult to install but I needed to add a couple of flat washers to use a spacers so that the rotating mechanism would rotate fully and release tha key. It was either that or file some sheet metal which would compromise rust resistance.
The lock works as adverised but only locks one side of the tailgate. It is still a theft deterent however but don't count on it for guaranteed theft prevention.

I recently purchased this tailgate lock and was very pleased with the handling of my order. It was processed and shipped extremely fast. The installation was simple and easy to understand. The lock appears to be durable (only time will tell). I give it a 5 out of 5 based on the total experience with the ordering and installation. The styling looks great and for the price, this is a great add-on for anyone wanting to lock up their truck beds.

It installs with ease and works pretty good. The only problem I had was the lock was able to wiggle open! I was hunting with a friend and he didn't know that the gate was locked and thought it was just stuck. He wiggled it and it popped the tailgate open. I haven't been able to duplicate it but if it happened once it could happen again. Maybe I didn't have the tailgate closed all the way? Still a great lock that gives me piece of mind knowing my cargo is safe and if someone wants to pop a lock, lets face it, they are going to pop it. This lock will make them work harder to get the goods.

The assembly installs easily and works well. It completely replaces the factory tailgate latch handle and looks like a factory installed latch handle when the replacement is done. Be aware that the PL5300 is the proper part number for all 2009 and 2010 Toyota Tacoma's whether it has a backup camera or not. These models are set up for the camera even on a base model without the camera.

This product does not work with 2009 and 2010 models. You must purchase the PL5300 for these models whether you have a backup camera or not since the handle is configured for the camera. The PL5300 installs easily and works perfectly. The PL5200 will not install and the process will greatly frustrate you until you conclude that it is not the right model and abort the process. I could not reach customer service by phone but I received a return call and received excellent service after sending a message through their customer service web page. The return and exchange process was quick and efficient, so even though they have dropped the ball on knowing which product you should purchase, I have to say that the company is a good one to do business with, and I won't hesitate to do so in the future.

Installed with no problems. Feels secure, but wish the lock keyhole itself didnt stick out, wish it was more flush, and matched the same black finish as the handle. But thats minor compaired to having the ability to lock the tailgate!

Installation was simple and straight forward. It took me about 30-45 minutes total to install. The only strange thing was that the backup camera mounts on the reverse side from where it is on the original, but it still works fine.

I received the product in good shape and in the time frame RealTruck had advised. I ordered the product by phone and the customer service was excellent. The installation instructions were very good. The only problem I had with the instructions was how to disconnect the cable connector for the backup camera. The picture was not clear on how to remove the connector. After several attempts I was able to get it disconnected. The product works great and I am pleased with the product.

I did not receive the wire ties. The box looked like it was a returned product. I had to modify the camera opening in order to get the camera to fit. The screw holes for the mounting bracket for the camera would not line up with the camera in place without slight modification.

The "POP & LOCK" was very easy to install and operates very well so far. My only complaint is that I feel the product was overpriced - including the $12.00 for shipping a package that weighed less than a pound and took two weeks to arrive.

The installation took me 15 minutes including removal and reinstallation of the 15 screws that hold the part of the black box liner that is mounted on the tailgate. The instructions included with the product could be improved, but the product installation is almost self-explanatory when you open the tailgate mechanism. The lock looks good and fits the opening for the tailgate handle very well, almost as if it came directly from Toyota.

The lock itself functions fine, but I had to modify the plastic insert that was part of the original handle so the Pop Lock would fit. No problem since this is after market and can be expected.
I will probably remove it once I put a topper on to regain the original look. This was just a temporary fix to keep someone from stealing my tailgate. Which by the way would not stop a professional from stealing anyway. It may slow them down a bit.
I would not recommend this solution as a permanent solution.

Excellent product. However,the instructions were a bit confusing. They would have benefited by having said existing plastic clip s would be reused after removal with a screwdriver. I am glad that I didn't destry them when I removed them.
Otherwise a great product that installs in about 30 minutes even with the existing instructions.

Great product. Installed on 2008 Chev 1500. This is my second Pop & Lock both worked as advertized...in a senior moment I ordered a different product that, I thought would be easier to install and look more like a factory install. Product was cheaper and look it when installed. Also did not provide "ANY" resistance to opening the tailgate when locked. Pop & Lock works! The other product did not!

A nice pruduct to keep your cargo safe. I have a cap on my bed that does lock but it doesn't keep the tailgate locked. Pop and Lock solved that problem. Definately loosen the existing tailgate latch to prevent scratching the paint while you are fitting in the new lock assembly. I sprayed up the plastic retainer clips that attach the rod assembly with WD-40 to remove any rust that would have impeded the retainer clips from moving. Take your time, familiarize yourself with the parts prior to installation and it will go smoothly. I noticed after the lock was installed that the tailgate lift lever felt different when you pulled it to open. But it works fine. A small price to pay for keeping my tools safe. I would definately recommend it. If you are reasonably handy and patient it should take you about twenty minutes.

Excellent product and easy install. Mine did not have the two-sided tape as stated in the instructions, but installed firmly and flush anyway. Took all of about 20 seconds to install the product. Excellent choice for those who don't want to take their tailgate apart to install a lock!

I understand that for security reasons it's metal constructed but should provide a rubber or foam gasket to provide protection to the metal tailgate and not scratch it.

I purchased a Pop n Lock talegate lock for my 01 Ranger and it works fine. The handle could be broken but it is plastic so if forced the handle would break but I don't think it could be opened without spending quite a bit of time prying on the tailgate. I do have a shell on the bed so thats why I added the lock and other than breaking a window it's very secure. I don't think the talegate lock makes much since unless you do have bed cover of some sort. As far as installing the lock it's quite simple once you can figure out the instructions. Maybe it's just me being stupid but it took me longer to figure out the instructions than it took to install. About 1 hr with the instructions and 10 min to install. I would say if you need a lock this one is as good as you will get. RealTruck was great, the price was the best I could find and I received it very fast.

The fit of the lock to my Tacoma tailgate latch was tight. I had to open up the tailgate inside cover to get to the latch guts to install the lock. The key seems small but the lock feels solid. But otherwise it has worked great. 5 out of 5.

Excellent fit, looks factory-installed, works nicely. Not a simple installation, as you have to remove the backing panel of the tailgate, but the instructions are easy to follow. A special screwdriver bit will be required for the tailgate panel screws. However, I highly recommend this tailgate lock!

Good purchase for my truck to allow stowing items in the bed away from view. Working in conjuntion with the pop and lock allows for safe storage. The Back Flip is decent quality, however one of the release string latches no longer works so we need two people to open it up on the second fold. Still recommend this over other types of bed covers I researched.

Easy to install, easier than major competitor, installation takes about five minutes. Double-sided key (not available on competing brands) is nice, especially in low light. The only downside is reduced handle grasp width. Appearance is good.
