what an enormous piece of S@#T this product turned out to be. The instructions are a joke and the wiring looks it came out of a leftover GM bin. nothing is color coded properly, and the plastic pieces are a terrible quality. I wouldn't recommend this product to my worst enemy.

Had to send back.
This item definitely does not work if you have a 2010 Toyota Tacoma with a backup camera.
Looks like it would fit fine without the camera, but this was the only option available for my make, model and year.
Hopefully, they will get one in stock that will work if you have a backup camera.

Installation took approx. 1 1/2 hours and was much easier then expected. (4 door Toyota Tacoma). The unit works perfectly. Excellent pruchase and product.

Works perfect with the keyless entry, there is no other way to lock the back of your truck in my opinion.
If the doors are locked so is the tailgate, no extra key to lose or never use.

Shipped and arrived very quickly. Installation instructions were clear and easy to follow. The installation took about 2 hours and now the tailgate locks with the push of a button.

Works as expected and feels secure. Wiring was a bit of a challenge as others have noted on late model Dodges.

The Pop & Lock actuator installed easily in the tailgate, but the directions to attach the wires to the truck door lock wiring was not correct. I called asked for assistance from Pop & Lock but they were not able to help me as they were not aware that there are different wiring packages depending on trim level.My 2008 GMC extended cab has a premium wiring package and does not send power out of the door to open other doors, which the Pop & Lock depends on. My truck sends computer signals between doors. If i had a crew cab,or standard wiring package the instructions would have worked. I had to extend the wires into the door to attach to the door actuator wires. This made the job much more work.
I had access to factory wiring schematics and I am a licenced mechanic, and i took 6 hours to install. It works fine once installed.

Didn't even get to use it. Too expensive to have my mechanic install it. I price quoted 3 and all said roughly 3-4 hours of labor.

I purchased a product and received it with a manufacturers defect. I emailed customer service and they promptly did an RMA for the unit. I received my replacement product within 1 week! They did not have to do this, as it was a manufacturer defect, but they took care of me. Thank you so much for your customer service. Great job!

Installation wasn't too bad. Found a nice walk-through on the net. Ended up shortening the cable by about 8 ft. Just spliced into the main wires. Ended up cutting & re-splicing it to prevent damage to my Tacoma's tailgate. Had to bend the swinging piece on the back of the handle a bit to make it fit perfect but it works great.

Install was not too bad. It worked for about 1 week and then quit. It would still click but wouldn't actually unlock. I removed the assembly and had to shim the actuator away from the backing plate to line it up with the locking pin. The linkage was binding too hard and it wasn't allowing the pin to slide. Works great now.

Great product. Installed on my 08 super duty and works perfectly even with the factory back-up camera. Works 100% like you would expect it to. Only minor issue is the instructions does not provide correct wire colors for the 08's. For 08' Super duty owners with crew cab, splice into wires brown/green and grey/brown located at RF passenger interior step (if you want to press unlock button twice from key fob). For it to unlock at the first press of unlock button, splice into violet/grey and grey/brown.

Functionally it is excellent, but the instructions leave a lot to be desired of. The PL8520 will work for an '09 Tacoma with backup camera, but mods are required.

Installed easy in tailgate, however wiring information for my vehicle was wrong. I called up tech and they could not help. Offered return. Called Dealership for the coded wires for remote and it was like pulling teeth. After two weeks, finally working like a champ.

Good product. Not quite bolt-in-and-go: had to tweak things a bit to get a perfect fit but no big deal.
As long as the actuator on this thing holds up (which I have no reason to believe that it won't), this will be the perfect solution to locking the tailgate.

Ordering, shipping, and receiving of the power tailgate lock was great. The installation instructions were very good although the pictures of the door assembly were not the same as my door but it worked fine. I was impressed with the wiring harness as it was the perfect length. On the competing products you had to order the extended wiring harness seperately. Thank you! The only problem I'm having is that the lock doesn't lock the tailgate completely. If you lift up somewhat hard on the tailgate handel it will release it even with the gate locked. I'll probably need some thoughts from you as to how to adjust this. I won't need any assistance for a couple of months as the tailgate is off the truck so we can use the camper but I'll call in when we return and I put the cover and tailgate back on. Thanks again for your service and I'll look forward to working with technical support in October to adjust the lock.

This is a great product. I was a little hard to install on a 2002 silverado because you had to do everything from were the handle is and when you add the after market handle it made it even harder. But it works great and the best part to me is you get the security without the bulky unattractive appearance. You can not tell it is there until you try to open the tailgate. Great product! Well worth the money!

Works well, once installed, but there's the catch. The provided cord is not long enough for a Megacab. I followed the brake wires to the cab and then drilled through the floor next to the emergency brake wire. I installed a small grommet I picked up at an auto parts store and I am very satisfied with the results. Note for installation on late model Dodges you will also need a door panel removal tool to take of the kick panel (where you splice into the door lock wires).

I installed this on my 2002 GMC Sierra and it's been working perfectly. The real test is always if it makes it through a Michigan winter, and I have to say I am very pleased with it. Installation went pretty good, the only thing that wasn't too pleasant was crawling around underneath the truck and having the undercarriage crap fall in your face. Other than that the directions for wiring everything up to work with your remote keyfob were pretty clear, so I would recommend this product.

As described. Works perfectly. Only disappointment is the lack of support for 2008 trucks. The wiring diagram is wrong and the tech line at the manufacturer is of no help. Hopefully they will update their documentation and provide an update online for future users. I had to figure out the wiring on my own with a test light!

Great lock, works well, but a real bear to install. Don't count on Pop & Lock for technical assistance, they told me to splice the wrong colored wires. Luckily, I had a manual to show the correct colors to splice. I thought the electrial would be the hard part. Was I suprised. installing the mechanism in the tailgate required me to remove the tail gate, and use all my considerable mechanical skills to install it. Four hours later the installation was completed. It works great, does the job. I'm thankful I only had to install it once.
