General Questions

1Q.) What kind of wheels/tires should I put on my truck after it has been lifted?
1A.) The huge variety of aftermarket components makes it impossible to suggest a specific set of wheels and/or tires for a vehicle.

2Q.) Can I use an older lift kit on a new truck?
2A.) No. Kits are designed for specific vehicles and don't fit others.

3Q.) Do lift kits have to be professionally installed?
3A.) No. Because of our comprehensive instructions, Performance Accessories lift kits can be installed by a competent backyard mechanic using the proper set of tools. 

4Q.) How can I cover up the gap in between the frame and body?
4A.) We manufacture a line of urethane Gap Guards to eliminate the gap. These are easy to install and available for most applications. 

5Q.) What are some of the basic modifications done to the vehicle while installing a 1"-3" lift kit?
5A.) You will extend your steering column using a steering extension. Your bumpers will be lifted through specially made brackets so they will line up with the lifted body. The fan shroud and other connected parts will be lowered to prevent any over heating in the engine compartment. Some welding and/or cutting may be necessary. Each of these procedures will vary vehicle to vehicle and all parts needed will come with the proper kit. 

6Q.) Does Performance Accessories sell kits directly to the public?
6A.) No we do not sell directly to the public. Our full product line is only available for purchase through one of our distributors.  

7Q.) How long does it take to install a kit?
7A.) On average it could take about 8 hours if you have two people working on the vehicle. This time could vary depending on the application. 

8Q.) Does the lift kit void or affect my vehicles warranty?
8A.) No the lift kit itself does not void or affect your warranty. However installation of tires and/or wheels etc. could have an affect on the vehicles warranty. So please see a certified dealer for your vehicle's warranty information. 

9Q.) Can I exchange an old and unused lift kit for a new one?
9A.) You would have to take it back to the dealer you purchased it from.

Chevrolet /GMC Questions:

1Q.) How will a body lift affect a Chevy 2500HD (Heavy Duty) radiator?           1A.) The kit makes a provisions for the fan shroud to be lowered. The radiator stay put.

2Q.) Do lift kits come with all parts needed to lift the bumper brackets, steering column, etc?                                                                                                               2A.) Performance Accessories supplies all the necessary brackets and parts in our kits.    

3Q.) Does Performance Accessories make a 2" lift kit for Chevy trucks?                3A.) We make 2" lift kits for an assortment of Chevy Vehicles. Please refer to our online catalog for specifics.

4Q.) I am trying to level a 2001 Chevy. Can I use a Performance Accessories lift kit to do this?                                                                                                             4A.) No you can not use a body lift kit to accomplish this. Body lift kits are not made to level vehicles.

5Q.) I need kit#10053 to lift my Chevy and I was wondering if I could use kit#163 instead?                                                                                                                      5A.) No you can't use another kit to accomplish your lift. Every kit is made for a specific vehicle and therefore important components like the bumper brackets won't fit. Further, If you use the wrong kit to lift your truck you will void the Performance Accessories warranty.

6Q.) Why are lift kits not available for Duramax Diesel engines?                        6A.) We have not prototyped one. Due to the relative complexity of the application (pressurized lines, intercooler, etc.)

7Q.) Can I raise a 1979 (or before) Chevy front or back bumpers?                            7A.) No. The bumpers on early Chevy's wrap around the frame in order to lift them you would have to cut off the end of the frame.

8Q.) I have tow hooks protruding through the front of my Chevy bumper. Will I have to remove them?                                                                                              8A.) Yes you will have to remove the tow hooks. At this time we do not manufacture a bracket to fix that problem.

Ford Questions:

1Q.) I just installed a Ford kit onto my truck without the steering extension. I could not get the steering shaft to separate. My vehicle seems to drive fine and there is no binding in the steering. Is there a problem with not installing the steering extension?                                                                                                                 1A.) Yes, there is a problem with not installing the steering extension. You can not be sure that your steering shaft will stay intact through the entire vertical range of the axle. For your safety, all components included in the kit are to be installed according to the instructions. Failure to install the kit as specified in the instructions voids the warranty and could cause vehicle damage and serious injury.
